TROPICAL OATMEAL COOKIES 1963

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1 9-oz. can crushed pineapple
1 1/2 cup oatmeal
1 cup sifted flour
1/2 t. soda
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/8 t. nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Cream shortening and sugar together until fluffy.
Beat in egg and pineapple. Then add remaining ingredients.
Drop by heaping spoonful onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 15 minutes in preheated 375 oven.
Makes 3 dozen.
